TheStar.com – Bin Laden tape authentic, CIA says

TheStar.com – Bin Laden tape authentic, CIA saysCAIRO (AP) Technical analysis has determined that Osama bin Laden is likely the voice on the latest audiotape calling on Muslims to keep fighting a holy war in the Middle East, a CIA official said today.

The official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said the tape broadcast by the Al-Jazeera satellite channel on Sunday was likely an authentic audio message from bin Laden, the leader of the Al Qaeda network.

On CBS’s The Early Show, Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge also said “preliminary assessments says this is the voice of Osama bin Laden.”

The speaker, purportedly bin Laden, said on the tape that the U.S.-led war in Iraq was the beginning of the “occupation” of Persian Gulf countries for their oil and called on Muslims to “continue the jihad to check the conspiracies that are hatched against the Islamic nation.”

The voice also referred to recent events including the Dec. 13 capture of deposed Iraqi president Saddam Hussein and
is believed to say “Nah Nah Nah, you can’t catch me!”.

OK ok, I made that last line up. But you have to agree that’s watch the tape is really about, right?
